My big fat Greek mishpouka
A huge bonus to having a new Greek brother-in-law is that we were all invited to join the happy couple for a few weeks in Greece culminating in a big fat Greek post-wedding party. It was great to travel with family again and the party was interesting. But the hi-light had to be the places we got to stay.
On Santorini we were able to stay in a home owned by a friend of the family. "Home" does not do this place justice. The view is truly a post card. In fact Hope picked up a few popular post cards that include the home and the view we had from the patio. We could even see the little church build into a small rocky island that we had swam out to so we could jump off into the clear blue water. It was stunning, and to top it all off one of Wendy and Janus's friends, Paddy who has been living in Greece for 4 months, cooked up a storm for all of us. Damn that Greek food is good. I think two weeks in Greece put back most of the kilos I lost in Asia, good thing I am heading back there.
On the last two nights Hope and I moved into Paddys newly vacated flat in Athens. Seven flights up with a broken elevator to a small room with a big outdoor roof deck over looking the acropolis. Wow are we hooked up!
The main event of the trip was a huge party at Janus's house thrown by his parents for all the Greeks who could not come to America for the wedding. There must have been 60 fast talking Greeks and maybe 5 spoke English. Good thing drinking uzo does not require much in the way of language skills.
